Creating a Scrapbook at a Bridal Shower
by Audrey Okaneko
Bridal showers can be so much fun. It’s a chance for the women of two families to begin their lives together. It’s also a time for the friends of both the bride and groom to meet one another and begin melding their lives together.
I think making a scrapbook as part of the bridal shower can be a wonderful way to share memories and get to know the other side of the family.
When you send out the bridal shower invitations, ask each guest to bring 3-5 photos of how they know either the bride or the groom. These photos might be of the two of you in college together. Or you might have a photo dating back to elementary school showing the two of you hanging out. Or your relationship might be from work. If you don’t already have photos of the two of you together, snap a few between the time the invitation arrives and the time of the bridal shower.
One of the nicest title pages I’ve seen for this type of scrapbook said “As We Blend Our Families Together.”
At the shower, you can have tables of scrapbook supplies set up. Not everyone is creative, so not everyone will want to create their own pages for the scrapbook. It’s great to have a few of your bridesmaids help create the pages for those women who don’t wish to create pages with the photos they brought.
You can also have paper for journaling, where others can write their advice, their recipes or their good wishes on the page with the photos they brought you.
If guests are asked to bring a favorite recipe, pages can be created of just the recipes to add to either the front or the back of the scrapbook.
It can be so much fun as you start your lives together, to view the pages of his family, her family and our friends, all together celebrating your union together.
